America has always been a nation of travelers. Whether by foot, by beast or something with wheels, we are a nation on the move. Over the past 100 years, AASHTO and its member states have played a key role in the transformation of the United States’ transportation system into one of the most dependable, safe and expansive networks in the world. But before it could become a world class association of state departments of transportation, a group of visionary state officials met in Atlanta, Georgia.
Think about transportation. It’s cars, trucks, trains and airplanes. It’s people. It’s goods and services. Transportation is the movement, the infrastructure and the people and technology who build it and keep it working.
