Centennial Newsletter and Web Site Introductions

Mike Lewis Welcome

For nearly 100 years, AASHTO has been a meeting place for transportation officials working toward a safer, more efficient and more resilient national transportation system. As an engineer, a State CEO and AASHTO president, I am proud of AASHTO's role in helping the United States grow and prosper. AASHTO's story really is about more than cars, trains, trucks and airplanes. It is a story of America and the link between mobility, economic vitality and quality of life. We hope you enjoy this monthly newsletter, which will highlight various aspects of AASHTO's first century.

This 100th anniversary will be a year-long celebration for AASHTO and its member states. Information will be updated throughout the year. So check back often and consider subscribing to receive this newsletter in your inbox each month.

Bud Wright Welcome

In 1914, most of America's roads were compacted dirt and moving across country by car or truck took days or longer. But the transportation professionals who gathered in Georgia to hammer out the vision for a new national association that eventually became AASHTO had a dream for an interconnected transportation system that could move people and goods safely and efficiently.

Their hard work is our legacy that has sustained AASHTO for 100 years. As AASHTO's executive director, I hope you enjoy this monthly newsletter and consider subscribing to ensure you receive it in your email inbox each month. We will continue to share the story of 100 years of serving the transportation industry and citizens of the United States.
